In February 2001 Adam made his theatrical debut playing the leading role of Mark in the smash hit modern musical Rent.

The show toured for 12 months ending in a record- breaking run in London's West End.

In Adam's own words....

I had never heard of Rent at the start. Some friends had seen the London production and said it was quite dark and depressing.

I went over to Broadway to see it and was so blown away by it that I called London as soon as I left the theatre (4 am London time) and said "I have to be a part of this." It was like no other musical I'd seen before. The show is based on La Boheme and it follows the lives of a group of friends in the East Village in New York, over a year. I played Mark the narrator. He wants to be a director - he's always filming throughout the show.

I know so many actors who dream of being in the show so I was honoured to be chosen but scared at the same time. We were a bit nervous about taking the show out to the provinces but the atmospheres and audiences were unbelievable.

I feel so lucky to have been a part of such an incredible cast, doing such an incredible show and getting the chance to perform each night doing something I love.
