From 15 October 1997 to 21 April 1999 Adam played the role of Nick Tilsley in the UK's most famous soap - Coronation Street.
Adam had some very harrowing storylines during his first term on "The Street" these mostly focussed around his relationship with Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) and included running away to get married, breaking up, abortion, confronting his father's murderer and more lightheartedly posing nude for art classes. Nick was then seen flying into the sunset to study in Canada at the invitation of his Uncle Steven.
In July 2002 Adam returned to Coronation Street for a short visit and reprised his role as Nick Tilsley in a passionate storyline. Nick returns to attend the wedding of his mother Gail Platt to new "Street" villain Richard Hillman. While in Weatherfield hairdresser Maria Sutherland catches his eye and they are soon involved in a passionate relationship.Nick was headed off back to Toronto with Maria who subsequently retirned without him.
In late 2003 Adam returned for an extended visit with a number of explosive storylines in volving his ex-wife Leanne, his ex-girlfriend Maria and his sisters boyfriend Todd Grimshaw.
In Adam's own words....
The Coronation Street part originally came up and I only went along to the audition because Nigel Martin Smith (my Manager) said that it would be good practice for when I needed to go along to record companies looking for a deal. I was amazed when they actually offered me the part, as I'd never acted before in my life. I really enjoyed my time on The Street - it's such a great show and for a first acting job it was an incredible opportunity.
Returning to the show was never a difficult decision for me to make.Corrie is the best soap on British television, plus I got to work with some fantastic people who I hadn't had chance to see in a while.
It was hard to leave the show and I look back on it with a great deal of thanks. I wouldn't be doing what I'm doing now if it hadn't been for Corrie.
